Position: Bookkeeper

 

Term:  Permanent Full-Time, 40 hours per week (35 paid, plus one unpaid ½ hr lunch and 2 unpaid 15 minute breaks)

Start Date:  December 16, 2019

 

Hours:  9:00 AM - 5:00 PM, Monday to Friday

 

Description: 

  • Regular entries of client’s sales receipts, invoices, expense receipts, credit card transactions and other source documents into the clients’ accounting systems

  • Reconcile bank and credit card statements for clients

  • Reconcile other accounts

  • Process payroll for clients

  • Produce budgets and financial statements as needed

  • Maintain and update client files as needed

  • Follow instructions by owners or managers

  • Maintain A/R and A/P records for clients

  • Perform other duties as requested

 

Qualifications:

  • Proficiency with MS Office programs such as Word and Excel.

  • Speak, read and write English (min. Benchmark level 7 if EAL)

  • Must be proficient in Quickbooks Desktop, Quickbooks Online.  Experience with other accounting systems, such as Sage 50, Wave and Simply Accounting are strong assets.

  • Solid understanding of accounting principles

  • Must be able to work independently and with supervision

  • Absolute commitment to accuracy

  • Must always be willing to ask for guidance, support or information when required

  • Must obtain criminal record check (which will be reimbursed upon hiring with the presentation of a receipt)

 

The following will be considered strong assets:

      • Post-secondary education in business, accounting, or a related discipline

      • Proficiency with the Google Office Suite

      • Familiarity with other software used in bookkeeping, such as Receipt Bank, Hub Docs, Xero, Zoho, Wave Accounting, and Fresh Books

      • Management experience and experience supervising others

      • Sales experience

      • Proficiency in other languages

      • Valid Class 5 Driver’s License

      • Familiarity and experience with:

      • Writing and reviewing business plans

      • Commercial lending and loan applications

      • Writing successful grant applications

      • Project management

Pay & Benefits:  

  • Wage is between $18 - $23 per hour, commensurate with skills and experience.
